Experience winter wellness by
leaving daily life behind, come and escape to a beautiful
winter paradise of Banff National Park. The therapeutic beauty of a
natural spa will do you wonders. In your own time enjoy relaxing in
hot springs, taking massages, stretching, reflection... in the day
we will enjoy celebrating winter outside in the snow. These trips
are designed for active and adventurous people.
First
and foremost you need to be an intermediate to expert skier or
snowboarder. The main reason being we need to be able to
enjoy riding together so we need the same skills. This is a very
important prerequisite!! In order to come on a Fatline Riders Guided
Adventure you will need to sign a waiver for liability reasons and
on your skills - ability. We will put the same level people
together, for example if you are in the expert category we would not
put you with intermediate people - unless you were family or friends
and wanted to do this.
If you do not think you are an intermediate to
expert skier or snowboarder then contact us and we can advise you on what best to do.
If you want to holiday in the Banff National Park area we can definitely
give you some very good alternatives.
If you are an expert rider then there are no
questions, just fill out the forms. If you are more in the intermediate category you may want
to look this over to serve as a guideline of what sort of skills you
will need and what skills you can develop to maximize on the adventure.
The sort of riding we will be doing will involve
powder and off-piste or backcountry riding. Are you comfortable
with this? Do you have your own gear? If you do not have your own
gear you can rent it here in Banff when you arrive we can help
you buy your own equipment. Although at the time of your arrival
it is possible none of the stores will have a full stock of product
so it would be a good idea to contact us prior.
Would you at your own local hill ride black
diamond runs? Snow conditions vary; ideal snow is not always the
case. You
must be confident on crud, crust, slush, ice as well as the powder
– can you manage to ride and maintain total control of your
planks in any and all of these conditions?
The adventure is designed with fitness in mind,
after a long flight getting here, taking the beauty in, the general
buzz of being on a 10-day snow holiday you will be slightly tired.
Day two, three and four (day four will involve short hikes) involves
being at resorts and the idea is we ease into things and get our
bearings. The fitness level needed for the days to come keeps building.
However you can help by being as fit as
possible before you come. You will more than likely have been riding
actively for many consecutive years. The more in shape you are the
more fluid your movements will be. If you are not on the snow prior
to your departure then start an exercise regime at least seven weeks
beforehand. Concentrating on flexibility, strength and cardiovascular
endurance. Increased flexibility will help reduce chances of injuries.
Strength will basically help you through the day and the better
your cardiovascular the more capable you are to keep active on a
certain task. Activities we would suggest are weights, yoga, swimming,
biking, rollerblading, hiking, skating. Remember you want strong
legs and you want your tendons and ligaments around your joints
flexible but strong. Cardio workouts need to be done 3-5 times a
week for a period of 30-45 minutes.
The better shape you are in the more you will enjoy
yourself! Please look over the itinerary carefully; hopefully you
will notice there are no breaks from the snow. You get here to Banff
and we are off, day one is when you arrive and day two until nine
are taken up on the snow. The peak performance days (endurance wise)
will be the last three days. Not only will we be active in the days
but also we will be doing things in the evening – such as
enjoying food and each other’s company. Get ready for lots
of action… be well rested and feeling your fittest!
